Comforter
A bed covering, made of two layers of fabric that contains a warm insulating filling such as silk, cotton or down. Also called a duvet.

Down
Soft, fluffy shaftless clusters from the breasts and underbellies of geese, ducks and other water fowl. A filler for comforters, pillows and outerwear.

Soft, lightweight, plain weave silk, originally woven on Japanese hand looms.
Hand
The characteristic of fabrics tat is perceived by touching, rubbing or squeezing. A fabric's "hand" describes its tactile qualities such as softness, finess and resilience.
Percale
A smooth, plain weave fabric with over 180 threads per square inch, sometimes reaching 300 to 400 threads per square inch. The most luxurious percales can reach 300-400 threads per inch.
Sateen
A smooth cotton fabric specially woven to create a silky, lustrous finish. Woven of long staple fibers that provide softness, exquisite beauty and opulent hand. Cotton sateen is cool, has a silky touch and is especially comforter in warmer weather.
Sham
A decorative pillow.
Silk
A luxurious fiber created by the silkworm when constructing its cocoon. Produced primarily in China and Japan. Silk is noted for its resiliency, strength and beauty. A fiber of silk is stronger than a fiber of steel.
Thread Count
Total number of threads running in both directions per square inch in a woven fabric. The higher the thread count, the tighter the weave and the more luxurious the fabric feels.
Universal Fitted Sheet
A bottom sheet that is elasticized all the way around, providing an easier fit around a mattress than a regular fitted sheet, which is only elasticized on the corners. A universal fitted sheet can accommodate a wide range of mattress depths.
Yarn-dyed
Fabric which the yarn has been individually dyed before being woven or knitted. Typically used when weaving stripe, plaid or check patterns.
