A silk comforter is a long term investment that should last 10 or more years, if proper care is taken to treat it right. Use a removable cover at all times. The use of a cover is also required under the terms of your warranty. Most importantly, a cover preserves and protects your comforter so frequent cleanings are unnecessary. If properly covered, silk comforters should almost never require cleaning. If it does require cleaning, it must be dry-cleaned. Do not hand or machine wash, this will damage the silk comforter. To find a good dry cleaner, call around and ask about their experience with cleaning both silk garments and over-sized comforters. Often, cleaners who specialize in cleaning silk wedding dresses are good candidates. Occasional airing will keep your comforter fresh. The less it is cleaned, the longer it will last.

All About Sun Curing
Sun-curing is the traditional way to "clean" a silk comforter. When the comforter feels weighty or begins to lose its heat retention or fluffiness, you can air it out in partial sunlight. Sunlight draws out trapped moisture, and freshens and restores fluffiness. Limit each airing to 1-2 hours, depending on the amount of sunlight. Alternatively, you can put the comforter in a dryer on tumble dry on air with no heat, limit drying to 30 minutes. Be sure to protect the comforter by enclosing it in a cover before airing or drying.
